Bed frame only

The bed frame provides the framework and basic structure of the bed; if only the bed frame is sold, the mattress is not included in the product.

Bed frame only products are recommended for those who already own a mattress or who want to use a Japanese-style futon.

Japanese-style futons are usually placed directly on top of tatami mats or the floor, but when used in combination with certain bed frames, you need to keep the following points in mind.

  • Frame compatibility: When choosing a bed frame for your Japanese futon, make sure the size of the futon and the size of the frame are compatible. If the futon extends beyond the frame, it may cause stability and comfort issues.
  • Weight capacity: Compared to mattresses, Japanese-style futons are less likely to distribute pressure on the bed frame, so the weight of the futon is placed on the frame. The bed frame must be designed to adequately support the weight of the futon. Be sure to pay attention to the weight capacity of the bed when selecting it. Please choose a product that says "Japanese-style futons can be used."
  • Breathability and humidity control: Breathability is important for Japanese-style futons. Depending on the design of the bed frame, the breathability of the futon may be hindered, so you need to be careful about humidity control. If your bed is prone to moisture buildup, choose a frame with good ventilation, such as a slatted frame.
